CricLane was built in New Delhi in 2021 because nobody could tell us, on a Sunday evening, who had won the morning's match two grounds away. Five years later, 9,426 clubs, 1,180 verified academies and 31,700 scored matches run through the same platform.
No franchise fantasy, no international punditry. Just the registrations, the scorecards, the rankings and the kit that a club actually needs to get through a season.
In the monsoon of , Rohan Kher was captaining a fourth-division side in East Delhi and keeping the scorebook himself between overs. The league had eleven clubs, one shared spreadsheet, and a points table that was three rounds out of date by the time anyone saw it. Two clubs finished the season arguing about a net run rate that nobody could reconstruct.
That argument is the whole company. CricLane's first product was not a website — it was an offline-first scorer that a club official could run on a five-year-old Android phone at a ground with no signal, and which published the scorecard the moment the phone found data again. Forty clubs across Delhi NCR used it that first season. None of them paid a rupee, and none of them do today.
Everything since has been added because a club asked for it. Tournament listings came from organisers who were collecting entry fees over UPI and losing track of who had actually paid. The academy directory came from parents forwarding the same four WhatsApp numbers to each other for years. Player profiles came from a nineteen-year-old in Kothrud who could not prove to a district selector that he had scored 1,100 runs in two seasons, because his club's scorebook had been left out in the rain.
CricLane is a cricket-technology company registered in New Delhi and operated by Catalyst Web Trendz Pvt. Ltd. We run listing and registration infrastructure for local tournaments, an on-the-ground verification programme for academies and coaches, a free ball-by-ball scoring app, public player profiles, a weekly rankings index, statistical fantasy analysis, and a kit shop sourced from Meerut and Jalandhar. We operate in 38 cities and we are hiring in four of them.

A club treasurer, a parent, a nineteen-year-old opener and a corporate HR manager all need different things from the same fixture. CricLane is built so that one match feeds all four — the registration, the scorecard, the profile, the ranking and the highlights all come off a single ball-by-ball entry.

Sunday is our busiest operational day and our quietest office day. Everything below follows from that one fact.
“Live scoring city” means we have at least one trained scoring partner and two-camera highlights on a regular ground. The other twenty-seven cities have listings and profiles but not yet full highlights.

Roughly a third of the grounds we cover have no usable mobile data. Every technical decision on this list follows from that constraint.
The scorer stores every delivery on the device first. If the phone loses signal at the toss and finds it again in the car park, nothing is lost — the innings replays to the server in order, and the public scorecard catches up in a second or two. This was the first thing we built and it is still the thing we protect most carefully.
A rolling twelve-innings rating weighted for pitch difficulty, opposition strength and match situation, recalculated every Monday at 6:00 AM IST. A hundred on a flat matting track against a bottom-of-the-table attack is worth less than a fighting fifty on a green Deccan surface in the second innings — and the index says so.
Before an academy or a tournament appears on CricLane, a field officer visits it. For academies that means photographing the nets, recording the surface, checking the side netting and run-ups, confirming the head coach's certificate number with the issuing board, and writing down the coach-to-player ratio for each batch. For tournaments it means confirming the ground booking, the umpire panel and the prize money before the listing goes live.

Our club had eleven years of scorebooks in a steel cupboard and no way to prove any of it. CricLane's team sat with us for two evenings and got four seasons of it typed in. That record is now the first thing a new player asks to see.
I run a small academy in Bopal with six coaches. The verification visit was uncomfortable — they made us re-net two lanes — but enrolment went up forty per cent once the badge appeared. Parents can finally tell the difference between us and a man with a bag of balls.
We were the first corporate league on the platform in Gurugram. What sold it internally was not the scoring — it was that HR could pull a highlights package for each company without asking anyone for a favour.
